Toto La Momposina
Karismatiske Toto La Momposina er ei levande legende innan afro-colombiansk song. Om nokon kan kalle seg Cumbia-dronninga, er det ho, som den fremste ambassadøren for musikktradisjonen frå Colombias karibiske kyst. Musikken er ein arv etter både afrikanske, indianske og spanske kulturar, og med Toto La Momposina i spissen har cumbia-rytmane vorte ein internasjonal dansefarsott.
Familien hennar er musikarar gjennom fem generasjonar, og alt som ung reiste ho frå landsby til landsby for å lære seg dei lokale musikktradisjonane. Toto La Momposina bestemte seg tidleg for å bli songar og entertainer. Og sidan 60-talet har namnet hennar vore viden kjent. Den colombianske cumbiaen er sjølve kjernen i hennar musikalske liv, men alle andre latinamerikanske rytmar inngår sjølvsagt også i repertoaret. Toto La Momposina har motteke motteke WOMEX Lifetime Achievement Award for sin enorme innsats på verdsmusikkscena, og i ein alder av 74 år elskar ho framleis å stå på scena – og det er fantastisk å kunne ønskje denne flotte berføttdivaen velkomen tilbake til Førde 23 år etter ho var her første gong!
